WHOLE WORLD FAIR in St Peter's Methodist Church on Saturday 12th November 2011 10am - 4pm

There will be a wide range of groups holding stalls and a large Traidcraft stall with jewellery and crafts of all kinds, food and Christmas items. Homemade soup, bread and cheese will be served at lunchtime and teas and coffees throughout the Fair

FAIRTRADE MARKET in Canterbury's Longmarket Saturday 14th May 9am-5pm

This was be a combined event with the Climate Fair on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th May. Other fair trade stalls included Siesta, Shared Earth, the Oxfam Shop, Suchana, and Hatti Trading, as well as a Canterbury Curry Club stall selling curries with Fairtrade rice.

FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT - 28 February to 13 March 2011 - SHOW OFF YOUR LABEL

During Fairtrade Fortnight 2011 we asked the nation to show off about buying Fairtrade and the impact it has on producers.

Saturday 12th March:  There was a stall in the Cooperative store in Herne Bay with a display of bunting decorated by pupils of St Philip Howard School and Herne Bay Guides and Brownies. Fairtrade samples were on offer, and shoppers who could come up with five facts about Fairtrade were given Fairtrade cotton shopping bags as prizes.

Thursday 10th March:  there was a stall at Sainsbury's store in Canterbury, with samples of Sainsbury's Fairtrade chocolate and Starbucks' Fairtrade coffee. Shoppers decorated Fairtrade bunting flags for the world record attempt, and were joined by Sainsbury's Deputy Manager Deborah Mascart and Starbucks Manager Marie-Claire Yearsley.

Tuesday 8th March:  Bridge and Patrixbourne Primary School hosted a 'Big Brew' Tea and bunting decorated by the school pupils was displayed at a Fairtrade stall at Bridge Farmers' Market.

Saturday 5th March:  children from St Peter's Primary School and St Stephen's Infants School entertained the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress and Fairtrade supporters with a performance of singing and drumming at the Fairtrade Fair in St Peter's Methodist Church Hall. There was a large Traidcraft stall, along with stalls for Suchana and the local UNA group, and Fairtrade refreshments and homemade soup lunches were served.

Friday 4th March:  there was a Traidcraft stall for the Women's World Day of Prayer at St Dunstan's Church, with a focus on Chilean products.

Fairtrade Events 2010

WHOLE WORLD FAIR - St Peter's Methodist Church Hall,  St Peter's Street, Canterbury

30th October  from 10a.m. to 4p.m. 

This is another annual event. The centrepiece will be a big Traidcraft stall selling a wide range of fairly traded goods of all kinds, including food, jewellery, craft items and cards. A great opportunity to stock up for a fair-trade Christmas.  Part of the stall will be a publicity table with a competition to raise awareness of Fairtrade. Many other organizations will be present.

Lunches with homemade soup and bread and cheese will be on sale and teas and coffees will be served throughout the day.

  • Fairtrade Fortnight 2009: 'Who Owns Fairtrade?' - a meeting at the University of Kent jointly organised by Canterbury District Fairtrade Network and the University of Kent Fairtrade Steering Group, 5th March.
